Mai Hirano was the younger sister of Mari Hirano. She was later kidnapped and killed by Koharu Utsumi. Her remains and belongings were found by Kyouhei Morimine and Koutarou Amon.

Mai traveled to the 11th Ward after her sister went missing there after visiting a friend, handing out flyers. She met Kazuichi Banjou, who encouraged her to keep trying, neither realizing her sister had already been killed.
Void[]
Mai disappeared three months before Koutarou Amon arrived in the 8th Ward. Her barrette was found near the 8th ward police station two months after that, with bodily fluids from a ghoul near it. This marked the case as a ghoul incident to the CCG who took the case from the police, but due to a shortage of investigators in the 8th ward, the case stayed dormant until Amon arrived. He started working together with Kyouhei Morimine to investigate, and together they eventually discovered she was kidnapped and killed by Koharu Utsumi.
